Fenway Civic Association’s Annual Rose Garden Picnic 

Picnic Volunteers Needed!!!! 

We are looking for volunteers for the picnic to help with the food service, and for a quick clean up/pick up at the end. It’s a great way to show your neighborhood spirit and have some fun. Bring a friend! Please email us at fenwaycivic@aol.com if you wish to volunteer – we need the help and would love to hear from you!

THE WEEK AHEAD

Saturday, May 30, 11 am – 2pm, FIXIT CLINIC: BPL Central Branch, 700 Boylston St. Get a free fix & gain some skills! Explore troubleshooting and repair with volunteer coaches. Fixit Clinics are free workshops where people bring broken stuff—from bikes to blenders to blazers—and volunteer Fixit Coaches share their tools and know-how to help troubleshoot and (hopefully) repair items. Check the website for more details.

Tuesday, June 2, 3-6pm, ‘til supplies run out, Kitchen Compost Kit giveaway at New Edgerly Plaza. (see flyer below)

Wednesday, June 3, 6-8pm, Emmanuel College 2026-2036 IMP Public Meeting (via zoom, online)

The Boston Planning Department hosts a public meeting on the proposed INSTITUTIONAL MASTER PLAN FOR EMMANUEL COLLEGE. The meeting will discuss the IMP and its potential impacts. It will include a presentation followed by questions and comments from the public. Register at bosplans.org/ Emmanuelpub. Email tyler.c.ross@ boston.gov with questions.

Tuesday, June 9, 6:30-8:30pm, State Senate Forum at Berklee’s 160 Mass. Ave. building.  Live / In Person: Join the Boston Democratic Wards 4 and 5 Committees for a lively conversation with the candidates running for seats in the Mass Senate.The Forum will be a double-header, an hour per district; currently confirmed:

6:30 to 7:30 pm candidates for the Suffolk & Middlesex State Senate race: Senator Will Brownsberger and Daniel Lander.

7:30 to 8:30 candidates for the First Suffolk State Senate race: Senator Nick Collins, Latoya Gayle, and Juwan Skeens

TRANSPORTATION NEWS

MBTA Symphony Station Accessibility Improvements

Station Closure starts Saturday June 6, 2026 – closed through summer 2029.

Green Line trains will bypass the station in both directions while construction is ongoing. Regular Green Line service to all other E branch stations will continue during this time.

Service Alternatives to Symphony on Green Line are: Northeastern University or Prudential stops, both stations are 0.3 miles away (or about a five-minute walk) from Symphony.  Orange Line at Massachusetts Avenue, is 0.1 miles (or about a three-minute walk) from Symphony. The Route 39 bus operates parallel to the E branch in both directions along Huntington Avenue.

Free Young Adult Memberships for Fenway Residents at the Huntington Ave YMCA

The Huntington Ave YMCA was recently awarded a grant through the Boston Planning and Development Agency. The funding will allow the Huntington Ave YMCA the opportunity to provide 30 young adults residing in the Fenway neighborhood with a free, one-year membership to the YMCA of Greater Boston. Apply in person! Ask for an application at the front desk. Flyer below.

Journey the Necklace

Journey the Necklace is a vibrant, self-guided summer adventure that invites you to experience the full Emerald Necklace—one stunning park at a time. Get ready to explore, move, and connect with one of Massachusetts’ most beautiful park systems in a whole new way! Check the ENC website for routes, elevations, history, and get into the fun of sharing your pics and logging your trip! Visit the site then get moving.

FENWAY CARES Every other Wednesday, 3:30 pm ‘til done – Next date June 3

Fenway Cares Food Distribution at 2 locations:

West Fenway – Fenway Community Center, 1282 Boylston (enter-Jersey)

East Fenway – Symphony Community Park, 39 Edgerly Road

Volunteers are welcome to sign up for all dates and both locations! 

The MGH/MBG Community Care Health Clinic 1-5 pm on Fenway Cares dates. Rotates between the West and East Fenway locations (see above). Offerings may include blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, on 6/3 at Morville House, 100 Norway St. and 6/17 at Fenway Community Center. 

Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m., Free Tai Chi with Sifu Huan Zhang, Symphony Park,  39 Edgerly Road. (8 class series, May through June)

All are welcome to this beginning tai chi class. In event of rain, classes will be held indoors at Morville House (enter at 100 Norway St.).

Dates: May 6, 13, 20, 27 and June 3, 10, 17, 24

Thursdays, 10 a.m., Free Chair Yoga with Michelle, Symphony Park, 39 Edgerly Road. (weekly May 7 ‘til August 27)

Join yoga instructor Michelle Coleman for a gentle workout – this class is performed mostly seated. This class is part of the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series – information at: Parks Fitness: Chair Yoga with Michelle
