Sunset Concert Series at Symphony Park

Fenway Civic Association is pleased to announce Sunset Concerts at Symphony Park, Monday September 28th – Friday October 2nd, featuring Berklee musicians.

Join us at 5:30 pm, weather permitting, Monday through Friday for short musical performances! Bring a chair and a friend. All concerts are free and open to the public.

Symphony Park is located at the corner of Edgerly Road and Norway Streets in the East Fenway.

Thanks to Berklee College of Music, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, the Friends of Symphony Park, and the Mission Hill Fenway Neighborhood Trust for making these concerts possible.

Curry College returns to Back Bay Fens

Students, mentors and professors from Curry College’s First-Year Honors program returned to the Back Bay Fens on September 19th to rake, week, prune and clean the parks.

Led by Curry College Professor Peter Hainer, The Trustees of Reservations volunteer Bill Stanton, and FCA board members, students engaged in three project areas that improved the quality of parkland for residents and visitors. Fenway Garden Society Hosts Annual FensFest

Saturday, September 12th (rain or shine)

11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Central Meadow, Fenway Victory Gardens

Please join the Fenway Garden Society for an afternoon of BBQ fare (burgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, local corn, salads, desserts, etc.), lawn games, kid games and crafts, a raffle drawing, live music, and the yearly White Elephant Table. There will also be a flower arrangement contest from flowers grown in the Fenway Victory Gardens. The event is free, but each $5 donation will come with a raffle ticket!

Summer Sunset Concert at Ramler Park Rescheduled!

The twice-rained-out Summer Sunset Concert at Ramler Park has been rescheduled for Monday, Aug 24th at 6:30 PM. With eight musicians and equipment to coordinate, re-scheduling an outdoor concert is challenging. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time.

A beautiful evening of music is planned with vocalists Maria Jane and Gabe and their top musicians bidding a nostalgic good-bye to summer in “Love Songs – Around the Block and Around the World”.

We hope to see you — and for good weather!

Ramler Park concert for August 11th is cancelled.

We are sorry to relay that the Ramler Park “Love Around the World” Summer Sunset concert rescheduled for Tuesday, Aug 11 is cancelled again due to the forecast of severe weather. It will be rescheduled for later in the summer. We will announce the new date as soon as we know.

Update on the Swingin in Fenway Concert!

Because of the rain that is predicted during tonight’s concert time, the Swingin in Fenway concert will be postponed to the “rain date” – which is next Wednesday, July 22 at 6:30 PM. We hope to see everyone at Ramler Park next week!

Swingin’ in the Fens
Wednesday, July 15 – 6:30 PM

The Patrice Williamson Group Brings Jazz to the Fenway Neighborhood at “Swingin’ in the Fens” on Wednesday, July 15. The annual free concert presented by Berklee College of Music, in partnership with the Fenway Civic Association and Boston Parks and Recreation Department, will take place at Ramler Park, 130 Peterborough Street.

Williamson will sing classic jazz standards including “Close Your Eyes,” “Lullaby of Birdland,” and “I Thought About You.” Joining her will be a quartet of celebrated Boston musicians: Gilson Schachnik, piano; Keala Kaumeheiwa, bass; Steve Langone, drums; and Jon Wheatley, guitar.

Picnics and folding chairs are encouraged, and the event is wheelchair accessible. In the event of inclement weather, Swingin’ in the Fens will be postponed to Wednesday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Two exciting events are happening at Symphony Park on Tuesday, June 23rd!

Symphony Park Grand Opening: June 23rd at 1:00 p.m.:

Come join the Boston Parks Department and the Friends of Symphony Park in celebrating the reopening of Symphony Community Park, located at Edgerly Road between Burbank and Norway Streets. Musical entertainment, courtesy of Berklee College of Music and light refreshments from Whole Foods Symphony and the Friends will be provided. Come help us celebrate – all are welcome to this free event! See the linked invitation for more information.

Summer Fitness Series at Symphony Park: June 23rd – August 13*:

The Friends of Symphony Park, supported by the Boston Parks Department and Boston Public Health Commission, will be offering 2 free classes at Symphony Park this summer.

Tai Chi: 8 consecutive Tuesdays, starting June 23rd from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

This class is geared for beginners, with breathing, balance, and tai chi taught by Huan Zhang of Huan’s Tai Chi.

Senior Yoga: 8 consecutive Thursdays, starting June 25th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

This class is geared for seniors, with all ages welcome. Mats provided.
