As we mentioned at our annual meeting, this year the Fenway Civic Association is renewing our focus on member engagement. We would like both to enhance our connection with our members and to strengthen the voice of our neighborhood in decision making at the city and state level. This year we’re hosting a series of quarterly public meetings, to which all our members are invited. We welcome you to join us to learn about the day-to-day work of the board in shaping our neighborhood’s development, preserving our parks and open spaces, and addressing needs for infrastructure and other city services.

The topic of the spring meeting will be Neighborhood Engagement.

Please join us to learn how you can get involved with FCA’s newly formed committees on Event PlanningLicensing, and Parks and Open Space. We’ll give you an overview of FCA’s role in each of these spheres and you can sign up to be a part of the team.

Looking for other simple ways to improve your neighborhood? The meeting will also feature a presentation from John Laadt, the City’s Director of 311, on using the City’s 311 app to connect with Constituent Services to fix things in your neighborhood.

The event is free and open to all to meet the Councilor and staff, discuss any neighborhood concerns, enjoy some pizza and other light refreshments, and to get to know other members of the community! We will also be joined this month by a special guest, newly-elected State Representative Chynah Tyler.

  • This year we will be hosting quarterly public meetings that will be open to all members. In addition to taking care of
routine board business, including planning, licensing, and zoning matters, we plan to host speakers on topics of general interest for the neighborhood. Please stay tuned for more information on those meetings which will be held at the Fenway Community Center.
  • To further our members’ connections with the business community, we’re excited to announce a new position of Business Liaison. Peter Sougarides of Samuels & Associates has generously offered to step into this new role.
  • We honored Ed Burke, a life-long resident of Boston, and a tireless advocate for the Fenway and its parks.
