Bus Network Redesign proposal – #55 bus »

The week ahead – Coffee with the Mayor and Bus redesign news

May 16, 2022 by fenwaycivic

Dear Members and Friends,

A few announcements for the week and some items to mark on your calendars:

1. Wednesday, May 18th, 9:30 a.m. – Mayor Wu’s Coffee Hour, Ramler Park, 130 Peterbrough Street.

Join neighbors and friends for a cup of coffee with the mayor! Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with Mayor Wu and city officials- it is a good way to express your priorities and concerns, and get to know your city representatives.

Each attendee will receive a free flowering plant. Event is weather permitting

2. Thursday, May 19th, 6:00 p.m. – Virtual Bus Network Redesign Meeting

We strongly encourage you to attend Thursday’s virtual meeting.

The proposed redesign has consequences for the #55 bus route:

  • The route will begin at Longwood Medical Area, down Boylston Street, continue down Mass Ave and end at Kendall Square, Cambridge
  • The bus will no longer stop at Copley and instead will stop at Hynes Convention for Green Line connections (or Kenmore until Hynes is ADA accessible)
  • There will no longer be direct connectivity to downtown via bus
  • The route will no longer go through Queensberry and Jersey St.

To attend this meeting and share your thoughts, register here.

3. Saturday, May 21st 9 a.m.-2 p.m. – Household Hazardous Waste, Paper Shredding, and Textiles and e-waste Drop-Off Day, Central DPW Facility, 400 Frontage Rd., Boston 02118

Finishing up your spring cleaning? Take advantage of the city’s waste and drop-off days by bringing hazardous materials, papers for shredding, and your unwanted e-waste and textiles to Public Works. More information, including what you can and can’t drop off at:

Finally, Boston’s Summer in the City Guide is out! See this guide to access free concerts, classes, and events across the city: https://www.boston.gov/sites/default/files/file/2022/05/%2722%20Summer%20Guide_web2_0.pdf
