Upcoming Events

July 10, 2021 by fenwaycivic

Dear Members and Friends:Please see the following information about upcoming events!

1. Sunday, July 11th, “Waiting for the 55” Rally to Fully Restore the 55 Bus, 5:30 – 6 p.m
Join your neighbors at the corner of Jersey and Queensberry Streets for the latest rally for the 55 bus this Sunday at 5:30pm! The 55 has returned to active service but on a limited schedule, without service during rush hour and only as far as Copley Square. FCA is partnering with Fenway CDC and other community members to continue biweekly rallies until the 55 is fully restored! Please come make your voice heard. You can also call the MBTA and Governor Baker, and email the MBTA and elected officials, details at http://www.tinyurl.com/savethe55

2. Tuesday, July 13th, WS Development-Fenway Sports Group-Twins Realty Development Project Public Meeting, 6 – 8 p.m

A massive development project is under review! The proposed project would dramatically affect streets around Fenway Park, changing Jersey Street, Van Ness Street, and connecting Brookline Ave and Richard Ross Way. In total, the project totals 13 parcels of land over 5 acres, and contemplates over 2 million square feet of new development, as much as the last 15 years of West Fenway development projects combined! We strongly encourage all residents to participate in the process. This is the first of two public meetings for this project, the second will be July 19th. To register for the meeting, read the project notification form, and submit comments, visit: http://www.bostonplans.org/projects/development-projects/fenway-project or email Aisling Kerr at Aisling.Kerr@boston.gov.

3. Wednesday, July 14th, FCA Annual Rose Garden Picnic, 6 – 8 p.m

Fenway Civic is delighted to announce the return of our Annual Rose Garden Picnic! Hear from your Fenway elected representatives, and join your neighbors and friends to listen to bluegrass music from The Bagboys, enjoy a boxed picnic meal, ice cream from the Boston Police Department’s Hood Ice Cream truck, and take in Kelleher Rose Garden’s famously beautiful roses. This is a completely free event, and all are welcome. Please spread the word! Rain date is Thursday, July 15th.

4. Thursday, July 15th, Boston City Council District 7 Candidate Forum, 6:30 – 8 p.m

Fenway Civic is one of many groups co-sponsoring the Boston Ward 4 Democratic Committee’s virtual District 7 City Councilor candidate forum. District 7 is currently represented by Acting Mayor Kim Janey, who is giving up the seat for a run for a full term as mayor. The event will be on Zoom, and former City Councilor Tito Jackson will be moderating. Topics will include transportation, housing, law enforcement, and workforce development. Please see the Facebook event for further information, and sign up to attend the event by visiting http://www.tinyurl.com/2021D7Forum.
