Phase 3 Starts Today! New Guidelines for Youth & Adult Athletics, Permitted Events, and More.

Latest Updates: Phase 3 Starts July 13, 2020

PARKS FACILITIES
Park facilities, including athletic fields, courts, splash pads, and playgrounds are OPEN as of July 13, 2020 as part of the City of Boston’s Phase 3 Reopening. Park users are advised to:

  • wear a face covering
  • remain 6 feet away from others, and
  • follow social distancing guidelines recommended by the Boston Public Health Commission.

EVENTS
Outdoor events are limited to 50 people or fewer, by permit only. Events of 50-100 attendees subject to approval by the City of Boston special events committee.

YOUTH AND ADULT SPORTS
For lower contact sports, games are allowed in addition to practices, conditioning and skills drills, and lessons for these sports:

  • Baseball and softball
  • Tennis and pickleball
  • Sailing
  • Track and field
  • Skateboarding

For higher contact sports, ONLY practices, conditioning and skills drills, and lessons in groups of fewer than 25 people, are allowed (no games). These include:

  • Football
  • Soccer
  • Lacrosse
  • Rugby
  • Basketball
  • Ultimate frisbee

PERMITTING
Regularly scheduled, organized activities — such as games, practices, conditioning and skills drills, and lessons — require a permit.

SPECTATORS
Youth players are allowed one chaperone per child. No spectators are allowed for adult sports.

LIGHTING
Facility lights will be turned on based on the location’s permitting schedule.
