New Trees in Fenway

April 30, 2020 by fenwaycivic

Some good news!
After years of advocating for street tree replacements along Park Drive in the Fenway, Fenway Civic Association is happy to report that some 50 trees have been planted by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) in partnership with the Emerald Necklace Conservancy. This is an example of what coordination between public, private, and citizen efforts can yield.
We would like to recognize the special efforts of Conservancy Field Operations Manager Ellen Arnstein, landscape architects Kyle Zick and Mike Doucette, and DCR’s Stella Lensing and Jeff Enochs.
The handsome specimens consist of hornbeam, redbud, serviceberry, linden, tupelo, and elms.
These trees will need everyone’s care and attention as they become established in the next few years.
Please encourage your building and your neighbors to water them 20 gallons once a week in times of heat stress.
