Good news! This summer the Fenway Civic Association contacted the Fenway Shaws Supermarket to inquire about the possibility of planting new trees to replace the dead ones on Boylston Street. We were pleased with Shaws’ response – new trees will be planted in spring 2011. The Fenway Civic Association also encouraged the supermarket to beautify the tree beds with some flowers.

On August 3, 2010, Governor Deval Patrick signed legislation authorizing the city of Boston’s Parks and Recreation Commission to lease certain historic properties, including the Back Bay Fens Duck House, to private entities that will renovate each building and operate food concessions and other services out of the spaces.
