8/23 Monday 6-8 p.m – Virtual Public zoom meeting re development

Impact Advisory Group (IAG) for the proposed project at 220 Huntington Avenue. This meeting will focus on proposed mitigation as well as the pocket park at 1 Cumberland Street. The meeting will begin with a 30-minute presentation by the development team, followed by a 45-min discussion of the IAG, followed by a 15-minute Q&A with the public. 8/26 6 PM – Virtual Public meeting re bus transportation Better Bus Project open house (on Zoom) on Thursday, August 26th, at 6pm. This will be an opportunity for riders to learn about all initiatives within the Better Bus Project. 1. Tuesday, August 3rd, 6:00 p.m., Sunset Concert at Symphony Park – Amaury Cabral Quintet          39 Edgerly Road, Boston 02115, fair weather only
From Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Amaury Cabral Jorge has touched many hearts with his music. The guitarist started playing music at an early age, grabbing a guitar for the first time when he was 6 years old. In 2019 Cabral was selected as a winner of the AES Scholarship, a Presidential Scholarship for Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive, where he auditioned for Berklee’s undergraduate program. He was accepted and started his studies at Berklee in the spring of 2021. 

This series is brought to you by Berklee College of Music, Fenway Civic Association, Friends of Symphony Park, and the City of Boston.

2. Tuesday, August 3rd, 6:30 p.m., Jazz at Ramler Park with the Rusty Scott Quartet

Enjoy jazz with these Boston Music Award nominees. Performing in Boston, New York, and throughout New England, Boston Music Award Nominees (Best Jazz Artist), The Rusty Scott Quartet delivers!              

The Rusty Scott Quartet plays a variety of jazz music from the 30’s to the 90’s by some of America’s finest composers: Swing by Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Glenn Miller and others of the Big Band era; Latin by Jobim; and Be-bop by artists such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Johnny Griffin, and Thelonious Monk.

Public meetings continue for local development and so do Save the #55 bus rallies, along with free concerts, fitness, and food sharing. It’s been a busy summer – we appreciate everyone staying involved!
Please see the below announcements for the upcoming week:

1. Monday, July 19th, 6-8 p.m. Fenway Project Virtual Public Meeting: A massive development proposal is under review that would dramatically affect streets around Fenway Park, changing Jersey Street, Van Ness Street, and connecting Brookline Ave and Richard Ross Way. In total, the project totals 13 parcels of land over 5 acres, and contemplates over 2 million square feet of new development, as much as the last 15 years of West Fenway development projects combined. The comment deadline for the Project Notification Form is July 23rd. We strongly encourage all residents to participate in the process. 2. Tuesday, July 20th 6 p.m. Symphony Park Sunset Concert Series kick-off, 39 Edgerly Road: All are invited for an evening of summer music at Symphony Park, hosted by Fenway Civic, Berklee College of Music, and the Friends of Symphony Park. Join neighbors to hear the music of Mestizas, a group specializing in a fusion of flamenco, Latin, and jazz genres, with an extended repertoire of covers and originals. This is the first of 4 weekly concerts held on July 20th, 27th, August 3rd, and 10th. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy great music in your local park!Concerts are fair weather only; cancellations will be posted on fenwaycivic.org

3. Tuesday, July 20th, 6 p.m., Red Sox Public Neighborhood Meeting, 20 Jersey Street: Join the Red Sox for an in-person public meeting! It’ll be the first in-person neighborhood meeting since October 2019. Doors will open at 6pm, with the program to begin at 6:30pm. The Red Sox will recap recent and upcoming news and changes coming to the neighborhood, before opening up to questions and discussion from participants.

4. Wednesday, July 21st 10 a.m., Free Chair Yoga at Symphony Park, 39 Edgerly Road: Join us for free fitness in Symphony Park. This gentle yoga class will relax and energize you while you enjoy a chance to meet your neighbors.These classes are weekly and held as part of the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series. Thursday, July 22nd 6-8 p.m.: 819 Beacon Street IAG Virtual Public Meeting: An Impact Advisory Group meeting will be held for 819 Beacon Street, a project consisting of 280,900 square feet of mixed-use programming in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital. 8. Sunday, July 25th, 5:30 p.m.: Save the #55 Bus Rally, corner of Queensberry and Jersey Street Stand up for your community transit! Join Fenway Civic, Fenway CDC, Operation PEACE, and your representatives to protest the cuts to the MBTA #55 bus and route.These bi-weekly protests take just 30 minutes of your time and help build solidarity and exposure about the need for our community bus.
