Spring is in the air – Annual Birdwalk and a special “Spring Blossom Ramble”, Saturday, May 4th!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Join us as we welcome the spring migration of birds in the Back Bay Fens; then learn about our local tree canopy- and enjoy coffee and refreshments in between!

Date:  Saturday, May 4, 2013, rain or shine

Birdwalk:  7:00 am

Meet at the Fenway Victory Gardens central flag pole, across from 11 Park Drive (new location this year).

Thrill to the sights, sounds, and array of birds that inhabit the Back Bay Fens each spring – all levels welcome on this walk, guided by naturalist and historian Gerry Wright.  Bring your bincoulars!

Spring Blossom Ramble: 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Meet at the Shattuck Visitor Center at 125 The Fenway. Coffee and refreshments will be served at the Visitor Center, thanks to Whole Foods Market (Symphony).

Join FCA and Forester Mathew Cahill from Boston Natural Areas Network for a Spring Blossom Ramble. The flowers of dogwoods and cherry trees capture our attention, but there are many more trees that bloom in spring. We will admire trees and learn why they flower the way they do.   This event is co-sponsored by the Boston Natural Areas Network and the Emerald Necklace Conservancy.
