Swingin in Fenway at Ramler Park – Wednesday July 12 – Rain Date, Wednesday July 26. Co-sponsored by Berklee College of Music, Boston Parks Department, Fenway Civic Association. Featuring Tim Ray.
Perhaps best known as long-time pianist for Lyle Lovett, Tim Ray’s wide-ranging skills as a soloist and accompanist have afforded him the opportunity to perform with legendary performers from all walks of music. Appearing on over 70 recordings to date, Tim has performed in concert with an extensive list of pop music icons, notably Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, Jane Siberry and Soul Asylum. He regularly performs with leading figures in the jazz world, among them Gary Burton, Esperanza Spalding, Phil Woods, Scott Hamilton, Dave Douglas, Brian Blade, Lewis Nash and Rufus Reid, and his classical credits include solo performances and concerts with Gunther Schuller, the Boston Pops, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project and the Boston Classical Orchestra.
Tim’s busy schedule has included frequent tours throughout the Americas, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and has included performances at Carnegie Hall, the White House, the Kennedy Center and the 1992 Presidential Inauguration. Tim has also performed repeatedly on “The Tonight Show” (Johnny Carson, Jay Leno), “Late Night with David Letterman,” “The Conan O’Brien Show,” “Austin City Limits” and various other national TV and radio broadcasts. He released his first CD as a leader in 1997 – Ideas & Opinions – on Gunther Schuller’s GM Recordings label, which featured drummer Lewis Nash and bassist Rufus Reid. His second self-led CD was released in 2003 – Tre Corda – and includes Greg Hopkins on trumpet and Eugene Friesen on cello. This “chamber jazz” trio has just released their next recording – Squeaky Toy – which features original compositions and music by Bela Bartok. Tim’s most recent CD is called Windows (with John Lockwood on bass and Mark Walker on drums), and features trio music composed by many of the greats of jazz piano through the years. Symphony Park Concerts

Fenway Civic Association and the Friends of Symphony Park in collaboration with Berklee College of Music and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department are delighted to bring the return of summer concerts to Symphony Park. Concerts will be held 4 Tuesdays starting on July 11th. All concerts start at 5:30 p.m. and are fair weather only. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy musical entertainment with your neighbors.
These events are free and open to the public- come and bring a friend! Symphony Park is located at 39 Edgerly Road at the corner of Edgerly Road and Norway Street in the East Fenway.

Date: Tuesday, June 20th
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Fenway Community Center, 1282 Boylston Street (entrance on Jersey Street)
Our meeting will feature Aisha Johnson, Director of Constituent Services for Boston’s Inspectional Services Department (ISD). She will be presenting on the City’s Rental Registration Program, and will also be available to answer any questions you may have about ISD.
ISD has a broad mission including food safety codes, pest control, and consumer protection.

This meeting is free and open to the public.

Fenway Park Concert Season is here

Dear Members and Friends:
Please see the following message from the Red Sox regarding new measures for 2017 concerts. You may continue to log issues with concert noise with the City via 311, but also contact the Red Sox via dfriedman@redsox.com so that they can be notified and work with sound engineers. We look forward to these improvements and will continue working with the Red Sox and the City to address concert and event-related impacts in our neighborhood.
Fenway Park Neighbors:
It’s that time of year again – concert season at Fenway Park! Since the beginning of 2016, more than 18,000 concert tickets have been purchased by our Fenway Park neighbors. This year, five out of eight shows are already sold out!
Finally, we will increase our social media posts, display messages on the park’s media screens and hang signs around the park reminding concert goers that Fenway Park is located in a residential neighborhood and request that patrons conduct themselves in an orderly fashion when traveling to and leaving the area. Our initiative toB Respectful and B Kind during baseball games applies to our concert patrons too. We will actively remind concert goers to B Respectful and B Kind to our Fenway Park Neighbors.
Through these and additional measures, we hope to address the various concerns presented to us by you, our neighbors. Please feel free to reach out to me or Dave (dfriedman@redsox.com) if you have questions or comments.
