Dear Members and Friends:

A late start but exciting news with the Red Sox in a wild card match up against the Yankees follows a busy week with events from Fenway Forward, Fenway Community Center and Fenway Garden Society. Boston provides free flu and COVID 19 clinics while health experts caution against contact of Muddy River Waterways… for this and more, read below!

Red Sox wild card match up: Get ready, for the first time in 4 years, the Boston Red Sox are in the playoffs! For everything you need to know about Game 1, visit: https://www.mlb.com/redsox/news/red-sox-vs-yankees-al-wild-card-series-game-1-starting-lineups-and-pitching-matchup

If you haven’t been following municipal elections, you still have almost a month to register to vote. The Boston Public Library has an informative page listing candidates and other information at: https://guides.bpl.org/voting/Candidates

Lovers of the Muddy River should stay clear of the water due to cyanobacteria – for information, visit https://www.boston.gov/news/health-advisory-back-bay-fens-waterway-affected-cyanobacteria-algae-bloom. Instead, visit the Kaji Aso Studio’s “Seasonal Inspirations: The Muddy River” exhibit through October 20th to view stunning landscape paintings by artist Gary Tucker –  for information scroll down at this link: https://www.kajiasostudio.com/current-exhibit

  • November 4, MUNICIPAL ELECTION (7AM-8PM)

ONGOING 

The Bowker Overpass project is now active: follow progress on the project page.

The City of Boston is offering free flu and COVID vaccines to ensure health of residents. For a full calendar of locations, visit: https://www.boston.gov/news/free-vaccine-clinics-throughout-boston-ensure-access-vaccinations

Sundays, 10 am – 2pm, Charlesgate Farmers Market through October 12

DCR Charlesgate Park (Comm. Ave. between Charlesgate East & West 

FENWAY CARES Every other Wednesday, 3:30 pm ‘til done – next date: 10/8

Fenway Cares Food Distribution at 2 locations:

West Fenway – Fenway Community Center, 1282 Boylston (enter-Jersey)

East Fenway – Symphony Community Park, 39 Edgerly Road

Volunteers are welcome to sign up for all dates and both locations! 

The MGH/MBG Community Care Health Clinic will now rotate locations between the West Fenway and East Fenway locations from 1-5 p.m. on Fenway Cares dates. Upcoming schedule: Fenway Community Center on 10/8 and Morville House, 100 Norway Street on 10/22. Offerings may include blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, COVID-19 and flu vaccines.
