The Week Ahead

September 14, 2025 by fenwaycivic

Dear Members and Friends:

There was a predictably low turnout for last Tuesday’s Boston municipal election day, following which Josh Kraft announced he will drop out of the mayoral race and focus on improving the Mass and Cass situation. Two candidates will advance for the District 7 Council seat: Said Coach Ahmed, and Miniard Culpepper, please check their websites for more info. Councilor Sharon Durkan is running unopposed for District 8. Eight candidates will move forward to the general election for the four at-large City Council seats. If you’re not yet registered to vote, you have another month to do so!

CITY OF BOSTON ELECTIONS

Important Dates:

  • October 25, 2025 Voter Registration Deadline for Municipal Election
  • November 4, MUNICIPAL ELECTION (7AM-8PM)

For more details visit: Election | Boston.gov

At the Berklee NIC meeting, new President Jim Lucchese shared his thoughts on the state of Berklee, its place in the community, and a vision of collaboration, innovation, creativity and sustainability. FCA-Berklee collaborations have resulted in street clean-ups and tree care, tree plantings, rodent control, Edgerly Plaza activations, multiple concert series, art installations and more. We are excited to continue the partnership.

The Bowker Overpass meeting had a robust Q&A on issues including: project scope and timing; protecting the Muddy River during construction; how existing and new trees factor in this project; pedestrian and cycle access during the multi-year work; halting work during Sox games; emergency vehicle access; identifying the fenced off mechanisms on Boylston St. by the Victory Gardens as dust monitors; and communications plans for the project duration. Follow developments on the project page.
