George Washington’s Mount Vernon website offers a look at his life before and after the presidency. After two terms as President, George Washington’s Farewell Address to the nation delivered a powerful message of unity over partisanship, and is It is still recited annually in the United States Senate, a tradition dating back to the Civil War.
