The Week Ahead

December 2, 2024 by fenwaycivic

Dear Members and Friends:

Happy Holidays!

Join Mayor Wu, Fenway representatives, and neighbors at the annual tree lighting this Wednesday (details below). This event keeps growing in popularity! We are super grateful to the wonderful sponsor organizations who donate their time, labor, food and resources to the community. The Fenway Civic Association is proud to bring it all together – and we value the volunteers who make this happen – won’t you join us and give an hour or two to share the cheer?! Join our volunteer crew to hand out refreshments, and meet and greet your neighbors (we need 8 more people!) Sign up here: Fenway Tree Lighting Volunteer Form.

This month, there will be special holiday donation drives at the Fenway Community Center and at SMFA, fundraising for Fenway Cares at The Fenway Chalet, and a local holiday crafts sale. Open Newbury Street has announced two December dates: 12/1 and 12/8.

Wednesday, December 4, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., FCA’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting  Hosted outside of the Kelleher Rose Garden, across from 77 Park Drive.

Join us for this joyful annual event! Friends, elected officials, food, music, parade of lights…. EventBrite Link to share and invite your friends!

6 PM – The official Fenway Tree Lighting begins! Join Mayor Wu, Fenway representatives, and neighbors, enjoy performances from Boston Children’s Chorus, and celebrate the holiday season. Cider, cocoa, and refreshments will be served!

6:45 PM – Following the tree lighting, join in a magical luminary walk down Park Drive to The Fenway Tree Farm located at The Station.

7 PM – Cheers for a cause at The Fenway Chalet at The Station powered by Cisco Brewers or browse holiday greenery at The Fenway Tree Farm. Cisco will be serving their award-winning craft beer, wine, spirits, and wood-fired pizza. This season, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Fenway Cares, an initiative that first came together in March 2020 as six local Fenway neighborhood organizations joined forces to address food insecurity in The Fenway and have since distributed over 30,000 bags of free produce to neighbors in need.

This event is free, open to the public, and happens rain or shine. Perfect for families, friends, and anyone looking to soak in the holiday spirit.

Pre-Event Family Activities at Fenway Community Center

Join neighbors at the Fenway Community Center for a festive kick off to the Tree Lighting from 4:30-5:45pm, where families can make holiday crafts, spend time with neighbors, and take photos with the Red Sox’s Wally and Tessie.
