Follow this link to get details on parking restrictions by street, date and time: Traffic Advisory for 2024 Student Move-in | Boston.gov

Each recipient will also receive $150 toward the purchase of bicycle safety equipment. To be eligible, you must be a resident of the City of Boston, 18 years of age or older, and ONE of the following: Senior 60+, Adult with a chronic or permanent disability, or Income-eligible adult, who is at or below 40% AMI

The week ahead

Dear Members and Friends:

Before you know it, the lazy, hazy days of summer will be replaced by the hustle and bustle of fall, with September moving days just weeks away! Enjoy some late summer fun in the city, with a great array of outdoor offerings listed below.

The plaza at Lyrik (Parcel 12 – over the Mass Pike, along Mass Ave., between Boylston and Newbury) just opened to the public. With tons of public space to meet, seat & greet your friends, and a sky deck for viewing the sunsets – it will be interesting to see how this develops. Lyrik Back Bay

SHOUT OUT TO RAMLER PARK – Happy 20th Anniversary!!!

Ramler Park at 130 Peterborough was born from a great love of the neighborhood through the generous donation of land by the David & Dorothy Ramler family and the tireless work of local Fenway volunteer activists. This month marks the 20th year since the grand opening in August, 2004, when Mayor Menino cut the ribbon to officially open Ramler Park! We’re grateful to the Ramler family, Mayor Menino, Boston Parks, The Friends of Ramler Park, and all who helped create this haven. Keep the park at peak condition by donating to The Friends of Ramler Park.

The Week Ahead

Dear Members and Friends:

News on delivery drivers and mopeds in the Fenway and Back Bay – this summer we’ve seen a preponderance of delivery drivers in the Fenway, some on unregistered vehicles, causing concerns for safety and a pushback from residents. The Boston Police are taking action, including a sweep on July 8th resulting in confiscation of 13 vehicles and two arrests. On Aug. 9, the police responded to a 911 call regarding a group of drivers ‘camping out’ on Peterborough Street adjacent to Ramler Park, and in private parking spaces, and advised drivers of registration laws, safety and trespassing issues, and were told to leave. The police advise calling 911 if you experience problems with drivers, so police can react in real time. Posting on 311 is too slow. See something, say something.

News: Berklee Files IMP Amendment to Lease, Renovate 1249 Boylston. (West Fens – former site of 2-level CVS pharmacy and Brigham & Women’s admin offices). If approved, Berklee College of Music will sign a 16-year lease (with an option to extend). The college proposes use for classrooms, dance studios, and support space, with an 1,800 SF ground-floor café, restaurant, gallery, or similar space with public access. Submit comments to the newly formed City of Boston Planning Office by Aug. 25; no public meetings are scheduled. Berklee’s projects a year to complete renovations, starting late 2024. The college launched a master planning process that will form the basis of a new 10-year IMP to be filed in 2026. For more information, or to submit a comment, visit https://www.bostonplans.org/projects/institutional-master-plans/higher-ed/berklee-college-of-music#c

News on Boston – Bowker Overpass bridge replacement and construction public information meeting – was held on July 11th. The work will begin in 2025, and will have a major impact on the Fens. View the presentation with project plans here.

Summer fun, music, movies, flea- and farmer’s markets, open streets – get it while you can. MUSIC: Berklee Summer in the City present hundreds of concert performances throughout the city. Ramler Park hosts the next concert on Aug. 20 MOVIES: MFA screens the Bob Marley biopic 8/20, Movie Mondays at 401 Park (new)! And Sunday Flea Markets at the Station – also the Charlesgate Farmer’s Market and Open Newbury (see ongoing)… a lot to get you out and about, and enjoy the summer. Check out the FENWAY NEWS for more calendar listings.
